About the Role
A Product Services Engineer troubleshoots and resolves complex issues for energy software platforms, serving both internal and external users. The role involves detailed root-cause analysis across application, infrastructure, host/VM, and cloud environments, collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive technical problem resolution.
Responsibilities
- Analyze user behavior and system logs to identify, reproduce, and resolve issues.
- Distinguish between software defects and enhancement requests through thorough investigation.
- Collaborate with Software Engineering, Data Science, Product Owners, Customer Success, and Business Management teams to resolve technical problems.
- Investigate application logs, system behavior, API responses, and monitoring data to diagnose issues.
- Use Unix/Linux command-line tools for troubleshooting and diagnostics.
- Write and execute SQL queries to investigate data and application issues.
- Utilize AWS services (e.g., S3, CloudWatch, Lambda, Step Functions) for diagnostics and issue resolution.
- Identify opportunities for product improvement and reduction of recurring issues.
- Communicate technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Support software releases, testing, validation, and deployment following established SDLC processes.
Requirements
- Strong Unix/Linux command-line and application troubleshooting experience.
- Proficient in log analysis, root-cause analysis, and API/application debugging.
- Advanced SQL skills for data investigation and issue resolution.
- Hands-on experience with AWS services (S3, CloudWatch, Lambda, Step Functions).
- Familiarity with monitoring/observability tools (e.g., Grafana, CloudWatch).
- Experience in customer-facing technical support and production issue resolution.
- Ability to support UAT and release validation; solid understanding of SDLC.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in the energy, utilities, or renewable energy industry (e.g., solar, wind, battery/energy storage, energy analytics, energy management systems).
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a strong technical problem solver with a customer-first mindset, capable of independently investigating and resolving complex production issues. They combine skills in production support, software debugging, AWS, SQL, Linux, observability, and customer-facing technical support. Experience in renewable energy or energy analytics is a significant plus.
