About the role
Join the Appliance organization as a Product Engineer on the Attributes team, contributing to the development of next-generation appliances. As part of cross-functional teams, you’ll help drive product innovation by leading attribute development work across new and existing appliances. The role will be involved in all phases of Appliance development with an emphasis on making connections between our consumers’ perception of the Craftsmanship of our products and the detailed design of our products to both understand where we can improve versus our competition and create a vision of the future.
Responsibilities
- Support attribute-focused projects through our product development process to build reusable knowledge
- Reference existing research and synthesize analysis from it
- Partner with internal or external resources to conduct consumer research
- Build prototypes that are used for evaluation or modeling to understand trade spaces
- Support the development of key product attribute prototypes and the development of specifications primarily focused on the Craftsmanship attribute
- Development of new testing methods for requirement verification
- Creation of new quantitative product requirements and targets
- Analyze testing data to build new insights
- Manage and conduct craftsmanship reviews of Keurig and competitive products leveraging our evaluation model
- Correlation of our consumer feedback to the craftsmanship of our products
- Create 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, specifications, and tolerance analyses
- Partner with a cross-functional team of technical, business, and manufacturing subject matter experts
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Design Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or similar
- 3+ years of professional experience in a relevant industry
- Experience with user-centered design practices including quantifying the relationship between consumer perception and product attributes (craftsmanship, performance, usability, etc.)
- 3D design / modeling (SolidWorks)
- Component and assembly design analysis
Preferred Skills
- Experience working in a new product development environment
- Experience “speaking” the languages of consumer insights, marketing, engineering, design, and analytics
- Understanding of plastic part design for injection molding
- Design for Manufacturing and Design for Assembly principles and best practices
- Design for Six Sigma practices including Root Cause Analysis, 8D, A3, Design of Experiments, etc.
