Key Responsibilities
- Sales and Support of the Glendinning “Complete Controls” product line.
- Responds to customer inquiries and identifies the correct product configuration suitable for their application.
- Provides quotes to customers for the system and when orders are received, ensures they are entered into the company ERP system.
- In some cases, existing product may have to be combined in new ways or with minor software / hardware modifications to respond to the customer’s specification. Identifies those needed changes and communicates with the company’s Engineering team regarding implementation.
- Ensures that customers have sufficient technical documentation to support their installation.
- Provides technical support to the customer during and after the product installation.
- Provides excellent customer service throughout the product cycle to all of Glendinning’s customers.
- Knowledgeable about the entire range of the Glendinning “Complete Controls” product line.
- Provides technical support to Glendinning customers during the product specification and installation process.
- Provides assistance to Glendinning customers during and after the product warranty period.
- Adopts a pro-active attitude to customer technical support, by actively following up on customer inquiries and technical support issues.
- Participates in technical investigations on returned product. Determines the direct cause of the failure. Offers ideas for product extensions and application engineering solutions to the Engineering team.
- As necessary, provides on-site support to customers and dealers.
- As necessary, assists the Sales staff by participating at selected trade shows (2-3 shows / year).
Skills/Qualifications
- Marine Propulsion experience.
- The Product/Sales Engineer must have a general understanding of marine propulsion systems – what they include and how they operate.
- Electronic system background.
- Basic familiarity with electrical concepts is essential (voltage, current, resistance, digital communications, etc.).
- Experience with NMEA2000 network systems preferred.
- The willingness to learn new concepts in order to understand the technical details of all facets of Glendinning’s “Complete Controls” product line.
- The ability to interact articulately with customers at all levels of the business via telephone and email.
