Product Safety Engineer

About the role
We are looking for a Product Safety Engineer with working knowledge of IEC 62368-1 and IEC 61010-1 and some of its collateral standards. The engineer should be able to demonstrate expertise within these standards and work independently with some guidance on a variety of products to meet U.S., Canadian, and other international product safety standards. Responsibilities include writing reports and communicating with clients.
Responsibilities
- Apply standard knowledge of IEC 62368-1 and/or IEC 61010-1 to prepare test plans and execute testing.
- Complete Test Report Forms (TRF) pertaining to the above standards, with guidance from senior engineers and management as needed.
- Read and determine applicability of national codes and standards clauses for the Equipment Under Test (EUT).
- Test products in accordance with standards and requirements, including but not limited to power input, leakage current, dielectric, temperature, stability, mechanical hazards, flammability, abnormal and single fault, and IP testing.
- Read and understand schematics and manufacturing instructions.
- Identify and locate test instruments and equipment required for testing and project execution.
- Perform preliminary design reviews (PDR) as career growth allows.
- Communicate with customers and sales on project status.
- Support department objectives and company goals as a team player.
- Maintain a positive, enthusiastic, and professional attitude.
- Adhere to manager directives and perform all duties in a timely, accurate, honest, and professional manner.
Requirements
- Minimum 4 years of product safety experience in Testing, Inspection, and Certification (NRTL lab).
- Proficiency in IEC 62368-1 and/or IEC 61010-1 (IEC 60601-1 is a plus).
- Ability to travel up to 20% as business needs dictate; a valid driver's license is required.
- Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
Qualifications
- Four-year college degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience (preferred).
- Minimum 2-year engineering degree required.

Schedule
Full-time position, Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, with overtime as needed.
Pay
$110,000 - $125,000 annually.
