Purpose
The Product Quality Technician supports the successful implementation of engineering changes, manufacturing process improvements, and First Article Inspection (AS9102) activities across commercial and military aerospace production programs. Working alongside some of the industry's most experienced Product, Quality, and Manufacturing Engineers, this position supports the successful implementation of product and process changes through First Article Inspection (AS9102), quality documentation, and cross-functional collaboration while maintaining compliance with customer, regulatory, and internal quality requirements.
Essential Job Functions
- Support AS9102 First Article Inspection (FAI) activities associated with engineering revisions, manufacturing process changes, tooling modifications, and customer requirement changes.
- Prepare, review, and maintain First Article Inspection documentation and supporting quality records.
- Assist Product Quality Engineers with implementation of engineering and manufacturing process changes across existing production programs.
- Support Material Review Board (MRB) activities by preparing documentation, coordinating supporting information, and assisting with customer concession requests.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, customer requirements, and manufacturing documentation to ensure quality documentation accurately reflects product requirements.
- Cookordinate with Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Inspection, and Operations to facilitate implementation of engineering and process changes.
- Track engineering and manufacturing process changes to ensure required quality documentation is completed prior to production implementation.
- Collect, organize, and analyze manufacturing and quality data to support engineering investigations, process improvements, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain quality documentation and records in accordance with internal quality system requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on improving manufacturing quality, documentation, and process effectiveness.
Special Skills And Physical Requirements
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately review and maintain technical documentation.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, and quality documentation.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across Engineering, Manufacturing, Inspection, and Operations.
- Ability to work independently while contributing as part of a cross-functional engineering team.
- Must be able to work in both office and manufacturing environments; routine time on the production floor is expected.
- Physical ability to sit, stand, walk, and perform repetitive motions such as keyboarding. Occasional lifting of materials up to approximately 35 pounds.
Education And Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Quality, Mechanical Technology, or a related technical discipline preferred.
- Previous experience in aerospace, manufacturing, engineering, or quality is beneficial but not required.
- Familiarity with engineering drawings, blueprint interpretation, dimensional inspection practices, AS9100, AS9102, or other regulated manufacturing environments is preferred but not required.
- Strong computer, organizational, and communication skills required.
