Product Owners III

University Information Technology (UIT), the central IT service provider for the University of Utah, reports to the Chief Information Officer and is responsible for many of the university's shared IT services, including wired and wireless networks, the Campus Information Services (CIS) portal, UMail, telephone and online collaboration, digital learning technologies, information security, software licensing, and other IT systems and services.

The University of Utah, located in Salt Lake City, is the flagship institution of the State of Utah's system of higher education. It is home to arts and museum venues, a member of the BIG-12 Conference, and offers proximity to outdoor activities such as skiing, snowboarding, biking, hiking, and fishing. Salt Lake City also hosts cultural attractions like the Utah Symphony and Opera, Ballet West, and professional sports teams.

About the role

Gather and document requirements for hospital-specific identity use cases, including:

• Provider onboarding (physicians, nurses, residents, affiliates)
• Role-based access for clinical systems (e.g., EPIC, EHR, clinical apps)
• Rapid provisioning/deprovisioning for patient safety and compliance

Work with hospital stakeholders (clinical operations, compliance, security) to identify access gaps, delays, and risk areas. Translate complex healthcare workflows into:

• User stories and acceptance criteria
• Process maps for identity lifecycle events (JML)

Support IAM backlog refinement with clear prioritization of high-risk healthcare use cases.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans for SailPoint IIQ workflows impacting clinical and high-risk systems.
• Validate:
  • Timely provisioning/deprovisioning of hospital users
  • Correct role assignments for clinical staff
  • Access certification campaigns for regulated systems
• Perform end-to-end testing across integrations (e.g., HR → SailPoint → AD/Entra ID → EPIC/clinical apps).
• Track and manage defects impacting patient-care systems with urgency and clear escalation.
• Support access certification and audit processes tied to:
  • HIPAA and healthcare compliance requirements
  • Least privilege and segregation of duties (SoD)
• Ensure SailPoint configurations align with audit expectations and regulatory controls.
• Assist in documenting controls, test evidence, and validation artifacts for audits.

Requirements

1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (e.g., bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).

• Product Owner, III: Requires a bachelor's degree (or equivalency) + 6 years of directly related work experience, or a master's degree (or equivalency) + 4 years of directly related work experience.

Schedule

Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Pay

$82,527.00 - $112,988.00
