Product Owner - Vice President
About the role
The role is within Wealth Management in the Alternative Investments Platforms Team supporting products such as hedge funds, private equity, private credit and private real estate. Morgan Stanley has one of the largest alternative investments platforms in the industry and it is one of the fastest growing segments of the firm. The Alternative Investments Platforms Team is responsible for leading strategic technology initiatives as well as application reengineering efforts for various Wealth Management products with the ultimate goal of improving the financial advisor/client experience and increasing operational efficiency. Examples of key initiatives include digitizing processes that were historically paper-based and manual and improving client reporting. The candidate will work closely with the various groups within the different business areas (sales, product, operations, etc.) and across Wealth Management to manage initiatives throughout the program development life cycle. This is a product owner / platform owner role and the candidate will be responsible for driving initiatives forward independently (developing business requirements, obtaining stakeholder buy in, coordinating with technology developers, overseeing testing / rollout effort, etc).
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- Ideal candidate will have 7+ years of relevant finance industry experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office with a particular strength in Microsoft Excel is required
- Organized and attention to detail focused
- Problem solving skills with the ability to identify and escalate risks
- Ability to critically assess process for optimization and the organization skills to drive continuous improvement to underlying function set
- Ability to take direction and work independently, as well as in a team environment
- Firm understanding of the importance of accuracy in quality of work/downstream impacts
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to effectively interact with senior management
- Strong reasoning and problem-solving skills and ability to think and act like an owner
- Efficient time management skills / ability to prioritize competing urgent tasks that team is involved with
- High level of organizational skills and attention to detail
Pay
Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $110,000 and $190,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
