About the role

As a Product Owner within our Transformation Management team, you will serve as the key link between business and technology teams, driving the development and optimization of processes and technical solutions that support business objectives. This role is responsible for translating business needs into clearly defined requirements, user stories, and product features while championing user experience, operational efficiency, and measurable business value. The ideal candidate brings a strong blend of product ownership, business process understanding, stakeholder collaboration, and delivery execution to ensure solutions align with strategic and operational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Product Strategy & Roadmap Management (40%)
    • Partner with business leadership to develop and maintain a comprehensive product roadmap aligned with operational and business objectives
    • Prioritize features and enhancements based on business value, technical constraints, risk, and regulatory requirements
    • Balance competing priorities across multiple insurance products while managing stakeholder expectations
    • Collaborate with Portfolio Management to ensure alignment with enterprise-wide initiatives
    • Define measurable success criteria for product implementations and track outcomes
    • Evaluate opportunities to improve workflows, user experience, and operational effectiveness across supported platforms
  • Agile Delivery Management (30%)
    • Serve as the accountable owner for the product backlog, ensuring clarity, transparency, and continuous prioritization
    • Write clear business requirements, user stories, and comprehensive acceptance criteria
    • Translate complex business needs into actionable product and process solutions for development teams
    • Lead Agile ceremonies including backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and related planning activities
    • Coordinate with Program Increment (PI) Planning sessions to ensure alignment with broader delivery timelines
    • Use Jira and related Agile tools to manage backlog items, priorities, dependencies, and sprint progress
    • Collaborate with QA teams and support User Acceptance Testing prior to deployment
  • Stakeholder Management & Change Enablement (20%)
    • Develop and execute change management plans for implementations
    • Design and deliver targeted training sessions for stakeholders during product rollouts
    • Create user adoption metrics and track progress against implementation goals
    • Facilitate regular feedback sessions with end users to drive continuous improvement
    • Serve as the primary escalation point for operational issues related to implemented products
    • Develop communications that clearly articulate the value proposition, business impact, and benefits of new capabilities
    • Partner with business stakeholders to gather feedback, clarify requirements, and support adoption of process and technology changes
  • Operational Excellence and Analytics (10%)
    • Establish and monitor KPIs for product performance and operational efficiency
    • Define and track success metrics such as adoption, cycle time improvement, defect reduction, and stakeholder satisfaction
    • Identify optimization opportunities across platforms to improve workflow efficiency
    • Support disaster recovery planning and business continuity for critical systems

Schedule

  • Occasional travel to other C&F locations for collaborative planning sessions (10%)
  • Regular participation in PI planning events (quarterly)
  • Support during implementation weekends (scheduled 4–6 times annually)

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience, preferably in insurance operations, underwriting, product ownership, product management, or business analysis
  • Strong ability to write clear, detailed business requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria
  • Experience using Jira or similar work management tools to manage product backlogs, stories, and sprint activities
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex business needs into actionable product and process solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize competing stakeholder needs and make effective tradeoff decisions based on value, risk, and delivery constraints
  • Working knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience in Scrum environments
  • Strong analytical capabilities with data-informed decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for technical and non-technical audiences

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Origami Risk or similar claim administration systems
  • Proficiency with Confluence or similar documentation tools for requirements and process documentation
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or similar certification
  • Experience leading operational transformation initiatives
  • Knowledge of underwriting workflows and decision processes
  • Understanding of insurance regulatory requirements and their impact on product development

Pay

The annualized base pay for this position ranges from a minimum of $87,000 to a maximum of $127,600. Actual compensation is determined by factors including market pay for the role, responsibilities, required skills, and employee performance. Eligible employees may also participate in discretionary equity-based compensation and performance-based variable pay programs.
