About the role

The Product Specialist will oversee and direct Product Management activities for the Specialty Ball and Plug Valve product portfolios. She/he will take ownership of the respective products and will drive specific product strategy and tactical actions. The Product Specialist will be customer facing and will ensure alignment between global product strategy and market needs, will be linked to financial targets and will drive product commercialization by enhancing value proposition.

Responsibilities

  • Implement global product strategies and develop product roadmaps in alignment with the Global Product Manager
  • Create strategic cross-functional initiatives
  • Conduct Voice of Customer (VOC) and Customer product meetings
  • Bring new products to market by analyzing proposed product requirements and product development programs; support return-on-investment analysis; establishing time schedules with engineering and manufacturing
  • Collaborate with R&D project manager and engineering leaders, ensuring deliverables completion and removing barriers
  • Support product commercialization of the portfolio globally
  • Drive product globalization activities, including supply chain and manufacturing localization to support the global business
  • Introduce and market new products by developing time-integrated plans with sales, advertising, and production
  • Forecast, refine and track product financials for the region and take actions to align them to the product budget
  • Serve as key information source for marketing, product development, and other decision makers in the organization
  • Prepare short-term and long-term product sales forecasts and special reports and analysis
  • Assess product market data: Call on customers with field sales and evaluate sales call results
  • Assess competitive landscape
  • Use strategic market knowledge tools
  • Support product pricing, review production volume and sales costs
  • Collaborate with Marketing on defining and creating all needed product literature and documentation including web site content and social media campaigns
  • Periodically visits (with Regional Sales) customer sites to establish and maintain relationships with key customer contacts thus maintaining a deep technical intimacy with all aspects of the product and its application
  • Assist in all necessary training in local region, subregion: customers, engineering, repair centers, sales force, field service etc.
  • Coordinates with the Educational Services Group as required
  • Provide tactical sales support as necessary

Requirements

  • Strong customer-driven approach
  • Emotionally intelligent leader and collaborator with ability to influence team members at all levels of the organization, solve complex problems, and resolve conflicts
  • Innovative mindset, with eagerness to cultivate “outside-the-box” thinking across the team
  • Great prioritization skills and sense of urgency, as well as good time management with ability to effectively work with people in different time zones
  • Clear communicator and strategy thinker. Able to get to the “so what” points while keeping the audience engaged
  • Able to adopt to different market segments (Power, Chemical, O&G, Energy Transition etc)
  • Technical expertise on Valves and Actuators is a plus
  • Former experience in a Ball Valves or Plug Valve company is a plus

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Product, sales, applications and/or engineering experience in a related field involving highly engineered specialty products in a global market setting
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to assemble and manage cross functional teams
  • Good verbal and written presentation and communication skills
  • Expected 25-40% travel is required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Engineering and minimum 5 years of experience ideally in Product Management, Operations, Sales or Project Management
