Product Manager - Product Development
About the Role
At Cryoport Systems, our mission is to support life and health by providing reliable and comprehensive temperature-controlled logistics solutions for the life sciences through our advanced technologies and dedicated personnel. The Product Manager will report to the Director of Product Management - PD (interim: Sr. Director of Product Marketing - PD) and work closely with Engineering, Product Marketing, and Project Management teams to align new products with corporate strategy, analyze profitability, and support the product portfolio of temperature-controlled shippers, condition monitoring systems, data services, and packaging/accessories.
The ideal candidate is an experienced Product Manager capable of operating in a fast-paced, dynamic setting, transforming market research, customer feedback, and sales data into actionable insights. This role will drive product development and improvement priorities, interact with cross-functional teams, and execute product line roadmaps from our Irvine office.
Responsibilities
- Product Development
- Determine goals and metrics for product launches based on market research, industry trends, and customer feedback.
- Develop business cases and use cases for new product ideas, build buyer personas, and design elements reflecting customer needs.
- Collaborate with Marketing and go-to-market teams to define target market segments, audiences, and drivers of product adoption.
- Map client requirements to potential new product features and functions.
- Partner with Product Marketing, Project Management, and Engineering to execute copy, labeling, packaging artwork, and collateral material, supporting product launch timelines and adoption metrics.
- Understand product strategy and roadmap, proactively identifying marketing opportunities and creating execution plans.
- Develop business cases for new product introductions based on market data, financial impact, and competitor landscape.
- Gather, decipher, and prioritize global customer needs, translating them into product requirements for conceptualization, design, development, manufacturing, and launch.
- Drive project development and launch readiness through the stage gate process.
- Develop product launch plans, including pricing, margin targets, forecast, and revenue planning.
- Support multi-year product development roadmaps, global rollout sequences, and financial modeling aligned with strategic priorities.
- Serve as a key subject matter expert for assigned products.
- Partner with Operations and Sales to develop processes for forecasting, ordering, delivery, installation, and training.
- Competitive Analysis
- Understand the competitive landscape and serve as a subject matter expert on competitors and their positioning.
- Build and maintain competitive intelligence and analysis to inform portfolio strategy.
- Monitor competitive products, potential threats, and competitor capabilities.
- Develop a deep understanding of market trends.
- Partner with Product Marketing to collect, analyze, and organize competitive data.
- Identify strengths and weaknesses of proposed products relative to competition, anticipate competitive responses, and incorporate insights into sales projections.
- Lifecycle Management
- Develop goals, metrics, and analyze sales and profit performance for assigned product areas.
- Assess marketing promotions and provide recommendations for campaigns and collateral updates to achieve revenue goals.
- Manage sales forecasts and budgets to support S&OP and demand planning.
- Work with the Global Sourcing team on inventory management of products and materials.
- Develop and maintain features, benefits, and updates for collateral, specification sheets, slide decks, and client-facing forms.
- Verify product requirements are captured throughout the development lifecycle in collaboration with Sales, Product Marketing, and Engineering.
- Manage product line roadmap and lifecycle.
- Product Marketing
- Provide product knowledge to assist Marketing with go-to-market strategies and launch campaign plans, including marketing collateral, training, and creative briefs.
- Partner with Marketing to deliver sales team training, tradeshow support, and content marketing (e.g., demos, webinars, case studies, white papers, blogs).
- Assist in developing and executing product-related content, collateral, sales enablement tools, presentation materials, user guides, and product updates for sales personnel and end users.
- Develop strong relationships with key internal stakeholders and support communication and training initiatives to raise awareness of marketing activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences, Packaging, Engineering, Marketing, or a related field; or equivalent technical background with marketing experience.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in market research, product marketing, product management, product development, or lifecycle management in the medical device or packaging space.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and intermediate knowledge of Adobe Acrobat Pro, NetSuite, Power BI, Salesforce, and Pardot.

Pay
Up to $130,000 annually, depending on experience, plus stock options, bonus, 401k, and benefits.
