MongoDB · San Francisco, CA · 3 wk ago
Marketing$108k–$212k/yrFull-time

About the Role

The Internal Data team is on a mission to power data-informed decisions and applications across MongoDB, focused on the business areas of Customer, Product, Finance, and Employee. We build and scale data products that MongoDB employees use daily, including data pipelines, datasets, analytics, APIs, ML models, and frameworks that form the backbone of our internal data ecosystem. We treat data as a product, applying the same rigor, user focus, and outcome orientation to internal data as MongoDB does to its external-facing platform and products.

As MongoDB scales, our financial data footprint has grown exponentially. You will take on the challenge of providing the focus and product management needed to transform complex, high-volume consumption data into clean, compliant, and near-real-time financial products. This role aims to move our Finance teams away from manual workflows and toward automated, AI-driven forecasting. We are looking for candidates based in NYC, Austin, Palo Alto, or San Francisco for our hybrid working model.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the end-to-end product vision, strategy, and roadmap for critical data products that power company-wide financial planning, forecasting, spend efficiency, and operational rigor.
  • Navigate ambiguity and shape requirements by partnering deeply with Finance leadership to unpack complex, unformed business problems.
  • Proactively translate high-level financial strategies into concrete data requirements, technical frameworks, and user stories.
  • Lead cross-functional squads to design, build, and deploy robust pipelines, datasets, dashboards, APIs, and frameworks.
  • Champion underlying data management tools that serve as the foundational engine for AI and BI across the enterprise.
  • Act as the ultimate advocate for the voice of the data consumer. Proactively audit user workflows, enforce data trust, and push for strategic technical solutions over temporary fixes.
  • Ruthlessly prioritize the product backlog, breaking down massive, ambiguous data initiatives into well-scoped, high-value increments.
  • Direct agile delivery from sprint planning through release, managing cross-functional dependencies.
  • Establish and track success metrics focused on product adoption, system usability, data accuracy, and quantifiable business value.
  • Own the data lifecycle from deployment to adoption, driving organizational change management, technical documentation, and incident resolution alongside engineering.

Requirements

  • 3 - 5 years of strong, technical Product Management experience, specifically managing data-as-a-product.
  • Direct experience partnering with Finance teams on planning, forecasting, and reporting workflows.
  • Deep familiarity with modern data architecture, including lakehouse and medallion models.
  • Hands-on experience with ERPs and core finance systems, with a strong understanding of journal entries, AR/AP, and aging schedules.
  • Familiarity with FP&A and Workforce Planning (WFP) ecosystems.
  • Experience handling sensitive data and SOX compliance, balancing risk controls with velocity.
  • High autonomy, with the ability to take full ownership of workstreams once priorities are aligned.

Qualifications

  • Strong product judgment and an outcomes-oriented mindset, balancing user needs, business priorities, technical direction, and delivery constraints.
  • Strong communication skills, with a track record of providing clear product visibility to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience at top-tier software companies with consumption-based business models is a major plus.
