About the Role

The Product Manager develops, implements, and manages product marketing activities to provide optimum sales and profits for the assigned product line. This role uses best practices in product discovery to enable seamless product development by engineers and manufacturing teams. The Product Manager determines short- and long-term strategies and tactics for product marketing, evaluates program effectiveness, and maintains a deep understanding of product features, benefits, pricing, positioning, design, and advertising.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and prioritize business opportunities through Voice of Customer and market share analysis.
  • Develop business cases for new products, including product positioning and pricing strategies to achieve low-cost production, high margins, and long-term market share.
  • Manage product life cycles by establishing short- and long-range visions for products.
  • Develop product specifications to meet customer needs in target markets.
  • Effectively communicate product development priorities and project progress.
  • Evaluate and escalate risks in projects/products to leadership as needed.
  • Monitor competitive activities and products, providing continuous gap analysis.
  • Apply knowledge of regulatory requirements for products.
  • Contribute to the development of product forecasts.
  • Evaluate and recommend product inventory levels.
  • Establish pricing strategies through margin analysis and competitive positioning.
  • Provide sales support for product benefits and features internally and externally (e.g., product/dealer meetings).
  • Perform additional projects/duties to support ongoing business needs.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in product management.
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably in the sciences); MBA a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge of HVAC technology, components, and industry.
  • Experience with an HVAC manufacturer.
  • Advanced knowledge of durable goods manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to apply business and financial methods.
  • Must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future.

Nature & Scope

Applies advanced knowledge of the job area, typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. Manages projects and processes independently with limited supervision. Coaches and reviews the work of lower-level professionals. Addresses difficult and sometimes complex problems, taking new perspectives on existing solutions.

Reports to the Vice President of Advanced Product Marketing & Innovation.
