Job Overview

We are seeking a technically sharp, customer-obsessed Technical Product Manager to join VIAVI’s Application Performance and Network Security Testing solutions team.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Identify new business opportunities in application performance and network security testing; develop and present business cases to justify investment, secure program funding, and maintain financial accountability for your product area.
    • Define and maintain a differentiated product roadmap aligned to VIAVI’s CyberFlood product strategy, market trends, and customer priorities across SASE, Zero Trust, cloud-native security functions (CNFs), and AI-driven infrastructure.
    • Research the competitive landscape in application performance and network security test markets; formulate competitive strategy and clearly articulate VIAVI’s key differentiation.
    • Define and execute pricing strategy and track revenue performance against plan.
  • Customer & Market Engagement:
    • Serve as VIAVI’s eyes and ears in the market—meeting with customers worldwide (online and in-person) to present solutions, actively listen, validate direction, and capture actionable requirements.
    • Identify customers’ business challenges in addition to their technical requirements; succinctly articulate the relationship between the two and quantify the business case for investment.
    • Develop and deliver compelling technical presentations, demonstrations, and training materials that enable sales and customer success teams to effectively position VIAVI solutions.
    • Represent VIAVI at industry events, partner forums, and customer advisory boards as a market leader and customer advocate.
  • Product Lifecycle Management:
    • Drive the full product lifecycle from conception and requirements definition through engineering collaboration, solution launch, sales enablement, and end-of-life planning.
    • Partner closely with engineering to write product requirements, prioritize features, and ensure on-time delivery of high-quality solutions that meet market needs.
    • Collaborate with corporate marketing to develop and execute go-to-market strategies, solution briefs, and demand generation programs targeting both broad market adoption and high-value accounts.
    • Drive alignment across all VIAVI stakeholders—engineering, sales, customer success, marketing, and strategic partners—to ensure cohesive solution execution.

Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements

  • Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field from an accredited institution required; equivalent practical experience considered.
    • 5–8 years of combined experience in product management, product line management, or solution architecture; minimum 2 years focused on network security, cloud networking, or application performance testing.
    • Demonstrated track record of driving the full product lifecycle: from concept and requirements through engineering delivery, go-to-market, and customer adoption.
  • Technical Knowledge:
    • Solid understanding of network security architectures including SASE, Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), and cloud-native security functions (CNFs/VNFs).
    • Familiarity with application performance testing concepts: traffic generation, protocol simulation, latency/throughput analysis, and real-world application emulation.
    • Working knowledge of AI/ML security concepts including adversarial attacks, AI inference validation, model integrity testing, and emerging threat vectors targeting AI workloads and inference infrastructure.
    • Understanding of agentic AI systems and MCP (Model Context Protocol) server architectures; ability to identify practical applications for test automation and customer workflow productivity improvement.
    • Knowledge of public cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP), Kubernetes, containers, and cloud-native functions is strongly preferred.
    • Familiarity with test and measurement platforms, traffic generators, network emulators, or security validation tools is a significant advantage.
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Business-first mindset: ability to identify customer business challenges alongside technical requirements, quantify business value, and build persuasive investment cases.
    • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills; able to communicate credibly with C-suite executives and hands-on engineers alike.
    • Highly collaborative with the ability to guide and lead cross-functional teams directly and through influence.
    • Customer empathy and a passion for deeply understanding pain points, use cases, and success criteria across diverse customer segments.
    • Willingness to make principled, data-informed decisions in a fast-moving landscape where complete information is rarely available.
    • Creativity and adaptability: rapid shifts in technology, buyer behavior, and competitive dynamics demand fresh thinking over repetition of past approaches.
