About the Role

Solid Power is seeking a Product Engineering Intern to join our talented team of engineers and scientists working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next-generation, all solid-state rechargeable batteries. This is a dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative, and innovative team environment.

The preferred candidate will be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program focused on engineering, chemistry, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with and under the direction of engineers to run experiments at the lab bench scale
  • Execute analytical measurements following provided SOPs
  • Document and analyze results with supervision of senior engineers
  • Communicate results and roadblocks to the broader team/audience
  • Always follow all facility and laboratory safety rules and regulations

Requirements

  • Comfort with safe handling of hazardous materials in a glovebox and associated equipment (required)
  • Knowledge of materials chemistry is preferred
  • Experience with material characterization techniques (XRD, SEM/EDS, rheology, etc.) is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite
  • Rapid learner and self-motivated who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative start-up environment

Qualifications

  • Enrolled at least at a junior level in a bachelor’s program in a STEM field
  • Experience with materials synthesis and analysis is a plus

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk
  • Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as necessary, including but not limited to eye protection, hair net, gloves, face mask, coveralls, full-face respirator, or PAPR
  • Ability to work in gloveboxes and dry rooms

Pay

$25/hour

Schedule

15-20 hours per week during fall semester

This position requires access to technology, software, and other information subject to governmental access control restrictions due to export controls. Employment is conditioned on continued government authorization, including export licenses or other required documentation.
