About the role

As a Product Engineer at Inalfa Roof Systems, you will drive the development of improved or new designs for automotive sunroof modules and roof systems. You will direct the building, modification, and testing of products, ensuring designs meet all customer and Inalfa specifications.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the engineering change process
• Support all DOE (Design of Experiments) activities
• Work with manufacturing engineering on DFM/DFA (Design for Manufacturing/Assembly) analysis
• Support manufacturing and quality with plant build issues and root cause analysis
• Update DFMEAs (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) as required
• Ensure SPV (Specification, Performance, Validation) testing is performed, and communicate results and actions to the organization
• Support cost reduction activities
• Provide technical input to Purchasing and SQA (Supplier Quality Assurance) for supply base issues
• Support plant liaisons with technical input for customer assembly plant issues
• Support CIP (Continuous Improvement Process) and Kaizen activities
• Utilize CAD systems to access and make minor updates to drawings

IATF 16949 / ISO Responsibilities

• Adhere to all IATF 16949 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environmental), and ISO 45001 (Health & Safety) procedures related to the operations department function.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; or 2 to 5 years of automotive experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public.
• Proficiency in mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, geometry, and trigonometry, and ability to apply them to practical situations.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret complex technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and handle abstract and concrete variables.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to walk and sit; use hands to manipulate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
• Occasionally required to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear.
• Must occasionally lift up to 10 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.

Work Environment

• Primarily works in an office environment.
• Occasionally works in the manufacturing area around moving mechanical equipment and may be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
• Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
