Product Engineer

About the Role

As a Senior Engineer I – Product Development, you will work in a design and development role across engineering disciplines for complex projects spanning various product lines, components, controls, and materials. This position involves a mix of product design and coordinating teams internally and externally to develop cost-effective new products. You will direct the work of engineers, technicians, and designers, ensuring integrity and compliance with codes and standards. The role includes software and control logic development, performing tests, technical bid evaluations, expediting vendor processes, and developing project plans.

Success in this position requires extensive engineering experience, strong technical and communication skills, and the ability to work independently on complex technical challenges. This role encourages innovation, continuous improvement of technical support, monitoring of technological advances and competition, and support for global and acquisition-related technical issues in your areas of expertise.

Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership
  • Develop new designs and solutions to problems.
  • Serve as a technical expert and consultant to sales, construction teams, customers, and field personnel.
  • Assign and review work of technicians, designers, and other engineers.
  • Train and mentor new engineering employees.
  • Perform engineering calculations to validate designs.
  • Lead design reviews and act as the primary engineering interface with Manufacturing, Sourcing, Product Management, Sales, and Customer Support.
• Product Development & Project Management
  • Develop project plans and manage projects and tasks to meet schedules.
  • Execute project-specific document control.
  • Review, approve, and control vendor-supplied engineering documents.
  • Provide support to site erection and commissioning teams.
• Documentation and Compliance
  • Develop project-specific operating and maintenance manuals.
  • Write engineering specifications for tower lines and components.
  • Verify and provide proof of job completion and meeting specification requirements for contractual purposes.
  • Sign and approve drawings for new and project-specific designs, as well as product standards.
• Testing and Support
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and improve production equipment.
  • Conduct product testing during development and post-installation to verify software and data development.
  • Witness third-party contractual tests.
  • Provide pricing information for new quotes.

Requirements

• Required Experience & Skills
  • 5+ years of experience.
• Ideal Experience & Skills
  • Experience with design for manufacturing methods.
  • Experience with solids-based CAD/CAM software.
  • Experience with SAP ERP Systems.
  • Experience in AutoCAD, MathCAD, RISA2D, and RISA3D.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience working with teams in different physical locations.
  • Experience with software development and control systems.
  • Basic understanding of design and application of components for cooling towers.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of HVAC equipment design.
  • Broad knowledge and application of principles, practices, and procedures of cooling tower design and structural engineering to the completion of difficult assignments.
  • Highly creative with a strong ability to visualize complex spatial geometry.
  • Passionate about product development and persistent in striving for solutions to difficult problems.
• Education & Certifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • Master’s degree in Engineering or 5+ years of work experience.
  • Has met all educational requirements and standards to be certified as an EIT (Engineer in Training) after passing the FE exam.

Schedule

• Onsite office environment, Monday – Friday.
• Hybrid work schedule available after satisfactory completion of probationary period.
• Willingness to travel at least 20% of the time.
• May require working occasionally outside normal work hours.
