Product Engineer

About the role

The organization operates in the sports analytics, betting, and fantasy sports industry. It addresses the challenges of oddsmaking through engineering, mathematics, and sports betting expertise rather than intuition. The company develops predictive sports analytics data products aimed at providing accurate and real-time data solutions for various industries and both consumer and enterprise clients.

The Product Engineer will build and maintain the production systems and shared frameworks that support the organization's modeling platform. This role focuses on ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of real-time sports betting and analytics products by working closely with data scientists and owning the engineering systems that underpin their models.

Responsibilities

• Build, test, debug, and deploy production-grade components and services for real-time sports betting and analytics products
• Own deployment and operation of services on Kubernetes within a shared platform ecosystem
• Improve and extend the Rust codebase
• Trace and resolve data inaccuracies across pipeline dependencies and Python codebase
• Set up and maintain alerting, monitoring, and observability for owned services
• Build and maintain shared frameworks and services to scale models in production and facilitate cross-team adoption
• Apply large-scale data processing techniques to develop scalable sports betting products
• Improve integration and scaling of real-time operations, simulations, and experiments
• Develop solutions for open-ended problems with incomplete information and no precedent

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field
• 5–7 years of experience building and shipping production software
• Advanced Python skills; Rust experience strongly preferred
• Experience owning services in Kubernetes environments
• Experience setting up alerting and monitoring systems
• Experience with Kafka or comparable event streaming platforms
• Proficiency with SQL
• Experience with source control (GitHub) and CI/CD processes
• Experience working in AWS environments
• Demonstrated technical leadership and collaboration on complex problems
• Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences

Pay

Base salary starting at $170,000, depending on experience
