Product Engineer
Our client is a seed-stage technology company building an AI-native platform for global trade, customs compliance, and duty recovery. Its software brings fragmented documents, spreadsheets, APIs, and supply-chain data into one system so businesses can identify savings, recover refunds, and stay compliant as trade policy changes. The company has raised $5.4M, serves more than 80 customers, and has grown revenue more than fourfold in the past six months.
About the role
This is a full-stack Product Engineer role on a small, high-caliber team with three hires planned. You will own meaningful parts of the product from problem discovery through production, working directly with the founders and customers to turn messy global-trade workflows into reliable, intuitive software. The company is approaching its next financing stage, making this an opportunity to join with near-founding-team scope and meaningful equity.

- Design product experiences that make compliance-heavy workflows clear and usable.
- Develop agentic AI capabilities for data extraction, reconciliation, classification, and operational decision support.
- Own features end to end, from customer discovery and technical design through deployment and iteration.
- Improve platform reliability, data quality, developer tooling, and engineering practices as the team grows.
Requirements
- 2 to 5 years of full-stack product engineering experience.
- Strong production experience with TypeScript across a Node.js backend and React frontend.

- Experience in a credible engineering culture, ideally at a company that reached Series B or later.
- A computer science degree or a related technical degree.
- Strong product judgment, intellectual curiosity, and comfort operating with ambiguity and ownership.
Nice to have
- Experience with NestJS, Prisma, MikroORM, Relay, BullMQ, Redis, Render, Pulumi, or Nix.
- Experience building AI-assisted workflows in a regulated or operationally complex domain.
- Exposure to customs, global trade, logistics, supply-chain systems, or financial operations.
Location and work model
- Full-time role based in San Francisco, California.
- Hybrid schedule with three days per week in the office.
- Candidates must already be in the San Francisco Bay Area or be willing to relocate.
- The company can consider existing H-1B transfers and TN, J-1, or O-1 visas, but cannot provide new H-1B sponsorship.
Pay
$185,000 to $230,000 base salary.
Benefits
