Product Engineer

About the role
As a Product Engineer at Mueller Company, you will track engineering projects and metrics, provide engineering support for assigned product lines, and implement improvements to meet customer and company needs. This role involves creating working drawings using Pro E, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD, developing engineering and quality control tests, and coordinating with approval agencies for new or modified products.
Responsibilities
- Provide Pro E, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD working drawings according to requirements and on schedule.
- Develop engineering and quality control tests and metrics for production reliability.
- Use applicable industry specifications to develop products.
- Coordinate activities with approval agencies for new or modified products and follow-up tasks.
- Work with internal and external customers (manufacturing, customer service, sales) to provide product support on design, process, application, and installation issues.
- Communicate design changes, manufacturing challenges, and cost-reduction ideas requiring product or process alterations.
- Generate Bill of Materials (BOM), Process Sheets, and Labor Routing information for assigned product lines.
- Support key manufacturing initiatives, including Kaizen events, standard work events, value stream mapping, safety improvements, capital projects, and labor efficiency improvements.
- Develop and maintain manuals, procedures, and practices for ISO certification and maintain relationships with agencies like UL, ULC, FM, NSF, and ISO.
- Plan and design manufacturing processes and metrics to improve safety, quality, productivity, product flow, and reliability.
- Investigate, evaluate, and recommend new equipment and tooling.
- Develop new production techniques and troubleshoot manufacturing processes.
- Create and maintain simple, logic-based software/databases for product line needs.
- Support Product Management/Engineering in clarifying customer needs related to the product life cycle (materials, BOMs, submittal drawings, configurations, new product development, testing, and maintenance).
- Identify, document, and present cost-saving ideas with justification and ROI calculations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- BS in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering preferred).
- 5+ years of relevant experience, with at least 2 years in design and/or manufacturing of mechanical engineered products.
