About the role
Provide Product Engineering support to the DRiV Aftermarket Braking Division. This position will provide guidance and testing approvals for all New Product Introductions, Ford and Mazda launches, and new Vendors.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate inertia-dynamometer testing for friction products with testing labs
- CHASE testing (SAE J866)
- Environmental / chemical testing (SAE J2975)
- AMECA edge code registration
- Maintain historical test database, analyzing and incorporating report results received from testing labs
- Manage test component inventory required for dynamometer testing, and ship test components to testing labs
- Prioritize testing based on changing testing requirements and coordinate test schedule with labs based on dyno and fixture availability
- Prepare benchmarking studies to qualify new supplier formulas
- Coordinate dyno testing for rotor coating interaction with friction
- Coordinate salt spray testing per ASTM-B117 for Rotors, Calipers, Zinc coated back plates, and new vendor disc pad paint as needed
- Evaluate new Testing labs for faster and more competitive testing
- Responsible for understanding Ford and Mazda testing requirements for new applications and coordinating all testing plans to validate new Ford and Mazda Business
- Responsible for all MDS (Material Data Sheets) submissions reviews and approvals
- Drawing Reviews for Purchased Friction Products: Disc Pad sets, Commercial Vehicle Linings
- New Vendor approvals
- PPAP reviews for purchased products
- PPAP submissions to Ford for DRiV products
Requirements
- BS in Engineering
- 1-3 years of Automotive Brake Engineering experience
- Manufacturing experience
- Experience with friction formula dynamometer analysis preferred
- Strong computer skills required, must be proficient in Microsoft Office, highly skilled in Excel to maintain records, analyze data, and create graphs to present benchmarking data
- Must be experienced in AutoCad or similar design software
- Must display maturity and a high level of professionalism
- Strong written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal skills
Physical Demands
- Should be able to lift up to 30 lbs when packing and receiving test samples
Work Environment
General office environment for computer work and data analysis. Additional working areas for part storage and handling disc pads and rotors for measuring and testing. Packing components to send to labs for testing; boxes could weigh up to 30 lbs.
