Responsibilities
- Oversight of manufacturing tooling design, construction, and implementation.
- Optimization of dimensional and core-related yields while maintaining minimum manufacturing costs.
- Creation of detailed manufacturing routings and processing instructions for efficient production.
- Development and debugging of processes for both production and developmental castings.
- Continuous improvement of existing processes focusing on yield, cost, and quality enhancements.
- Technical support to customers and interaction with them regarding technical concerns and product-related issues.
- Preparation of clear and effective reports, business correspondence, and procedures to document engineering work and communicate recommendations.
- Presentation of technical information and response to questions from internal stakeholders and external customers.
- Solving practical engineering problems and handling a variety of variables in situations with limited standardization.
- Interpretation and following of instructions delivered in various forms to drive projects to completion.
- Collaboration with manufacturing and other engineering team members in a team-based environment.
- Support of new product development initiatives, including design for manufacturability and process development.
- Compliance with all company attendance policies and guidelines, including regular attendance and some overtime as needed to support production demands.
- Performance of other related duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering; a non-engineering degree may be considered with equivalent work experience.
- Approximately 5+ years of experience in Product Engineering in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated experience in manufacturing engineering, product design, and product development.
- Proven experience in product improvement initiatives, including yield and cost optimization.
- Industrial manufacturing experience, ideally in a process- or production-oriented setting.
- CAD experience, with SolidWorks strongly preferred; experience with NX or similar CAD software is beneficial.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, drawings, and specifications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to work with limited standardization and multiple variables.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present information and respond to questions from internal teams and customers.
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization in a collaborative, team-based environment.
- Self-motivation with a demonstrated drive to continuously improve processes and products within an assigned portfolio.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Mechanical Engineering degree is highly preferred due to the nature of the investment casting and tooling work.
- Leadership ability is desired, as this position benefits from being an influential engineer within the organization.
- Demonstrated leadership experience is a plus, with potential advancement opportunities into roles such as Senior Engineer or Project Engineer in approximately 2–4 years.
- Experience with new product development and process improvement in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Experience with mechanical design in a manufacturing context, including design for manufacturability and tooling considerations.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes related to investment casting or similar casting processes is beneficial.
- Comfort presenting technical information to managers, clients, customers, and broader groups.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt work hours occasionally based on product and process timing.
