Product Engineer
About the role
The person hired for the position of Product Engineer will support the Non-Woven Making operations within the Prairie du Chien, WI site. The position requires an individual with strong leadership skills, who is a good decision maker with the ability to collect facts and facilitate good business decisions.
Responsibilities
- Support safety improvement initiatives
- Initiate, recommend and drive cost and productivity improvements by leading Continuous Improvement projects with a variety of toolsets, including standard work development, Lean & Six Sigma methodologies, Tier reviews and Kaizens
- Provide technical support, troubleshooting and involvement in daily operations to meet operational targets including occasional availability on nights, weekends and holidays as needed by production
- Provide manufacturing leadership on assigned products including, but not limited to, resolution of customer complaints in a timely manner, communication and implementation of corrective actions to improve customer experience, creating and maintaining documentation, implementing management of change, experimental run planning, increasing product and process understanding, reducing variability, providing unit cost estimates and tracking manufacturing unit costs
- Collaborate with local and division technical teams on division/value stream level projects focused on improving manufacturing operations along with scale-up efforts of new products (NPI) supporting growth
- Proactively communicate project direction and status to appropriate personnel
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering or science (completed and verified prior to start)
- Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution
- Two (2) years of previous technical manufacturing experience with demonstrated strength in engineering/technical skills in a private, public, government or military environment
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access) and Minitab
- Experience in applying Lean methodology, statistics, SPC, DOE, and Six Sigma in manufacturing to improve product and process understanding; Green Belt/Black Belt certification is a plus
- Experience leading or participating on cross functional teams
- Self-motivated with strong analytical and project leadership skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with strong communication skills both verbal and written, as well as analytical and organizational skills to manage different priorities
- Able to prioritize and remain flexible to changes; responds with a sense of urgency
Qualifications
- Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status)

Pay Range
The expected compensation range for this position is $98,964 - $120,957, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible.
