Conveo is a YC-backed company in an active growth period, growing from ~20 to ~120 people this year. The engineering team is small by design—no product managers, no designer handoffs, no tickets waiting for prioritization. Engineers own the full distance from customer problem to working software, reporting directly to the CTO. You’ll shape what gets built, actively contributing to product direction with real technical and strategic impact.

What we're building

Conveo is the AI research platform enabling fast, affordable, and high-quality consumer/B2B research. Global brands like Unilever, Google, and Orange use our AI video interviewer to generate insights across marketing and product teams. Traditional research is slow, expensive, and superficial—we’re closing that gap.

Responsibilities

  • Work backwards from the user’s experience, owning everything from problem discovery to shipped code.
  • Shape product direction by actively contributing to what and how we build, with technical and strategic influence.
  • Own the full stack: build the React/TypeScript frontend (setting the quality bar for components, state management, and performance) and backend (API design, PostgreSQL, AWS infrastructure, AI-powered features using LLM APIs, prompt engineering, and async pipelines).
  • Be the engineering voice in customer conversations—join calls (~once/week), interpret needs, scope decisions, and follow through.
  • Use AI agentic solutions first—reason, build, review, and test with AI, staying current on frontier models and integrating them into what we ship.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience building full-stack applications with TypeScript and Node.js.
  • Strong backend experience: designing APIs, PostgreSQL, and managing background jobs/async workflows.
  • Solid frontend skills with React.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS and/or GCP), including services like S3, media pipelines, and deployment tooling.
  • Experience building AI-driven applications (e.g., prompt engineering, LLM APIs, or fine-tuning).
  • Ability to independently lead projects from concept to launch.
  • Excellent written/verbal English communication with a keen eye for detail.
  • Collaborative mindset; able to work autonomously in a small, fast-paced team.

Nice to have

  • Experience with React Router v7 or Remix.
  • Client-facing experience at a small, fast-moving SaaS company.
  • Exposure to market research or qualitative research tooling.
  • Shipped agentic AI systems to production, with knowledge of failure modes, evaluations, and tool design.
