Product Engineer ($125k-$200k + Equity) at well-funded AI safety startup

About the role

You will develop full-stack testing platforms and evaluation infrastructure used to align and improve next-generation AI models. By engineering complex software interactions and data systems that mimic real-world business environments, you enable AI researchers to train models on high-fidelity data. This role bridges product engineering and AI safety within a high-velocity team.

Responsibilities

• Develop end-to-end evaluation platforms, including frontend tools, backend services, and APIs that simulate complex real-world software interactions.
• Partner with research teams to design sophisticated data models and software workflows for testing model performance in business contexts.
• Implement modern development practices and AI-assisted coding tools to rapidly build and deploy infrastructure that ensures AI reliability and alignment.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience building complex, full-stack products from initial ambiguity to production, ideally within a high-growth startup environment.
• Deep technical proficiency in React, TypeScript, and Python, with a strong intuition for how enterprise software behaves in production.
• Proactive, owner-mindset with the ability to navigate complex requirements and build robust tools for evaluating AI performance.
