Product Development Spray Technician

Key Responsibility

• Execute spray application for: Customer samples, Sales work orders, Product development evaluations
• Apply coatings including: Polyurea (thick/thin film), Primers, and topcoats
• Follow all TDS and application procedures
• Perform surface preparation per AMPP/industry standards
• Set up spray equipment and environment: Booth conditions, Temperature / humidity considerations
• Operate and maintain: Graco proportioners (E-10, E-XP, H-XP, HFR), Spray guns (Fusion, P2, GX-8, etc.)
• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning
• Identify and report equipment issues
• Record and document Wet/Dry film thickness, Recoat windows, Environmental conditions, Surface profile
• Capture project photos and job records
• Support customer demos and evaluations
• Afford proper application techniques
• Maintain professional, customer-facing communication during visit

Qualifications

• Minimum Required: High School Diploma
• Preferred: 2 year vocational certification
• Minimum Required: At least four (4) years of relevant work experience
• Preferred: Preferred spray foam or industrial coating experience
• Job Specific Skills: Hands-on experience with spray application of coatings (polyurea, polyurethane, or similar systems)
• Ability to set up and operate plural component spray equipment and related tools
• Ability to perform repeatable, high-quality spray applications based on defined process requirements
• Working Knowledge Of Surface preparation methods and their impact on coating performance
• Coating systems including primers, base coats, and topcoats
• Mechanical aptitude with ability to: Perform basic equipment setup, cleaning, and troubleshooting
• Follow work orders, technical data sheets (TDS), and application procedures
• Control film build, spray technique, and application consistency
• Experience documenting or collecting application data (DFT, environmental conditions, etc.)
• Basic computer skills (Outlook, data entry, documentation)
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Capable of lifting a minimum of 40 lbs on a routine basics
• Preferred Experience with: Graco plural component equipment, Industrial coating or blasting operations
• Familiarity with: AMPP / SSPC standards
• Experience supporting customer demos or training
• Communication & Working Relationships: Internal Product Development team, Sales team, External IXS customers when performing demos or other similar activities

• Capable of lifting 40 lbs on a routine occurrence
• Chemicals used for cleaning and flushing equipment
