About the role

We're looking for a Product Development Manager to own the full lifecycle of our products from concept to shelf-ready, ensuring quality, cost, and timeline targets are met consistently. This role requires a proven track record of managing overseas manufacturers and shipping on time.

Responsibilities

  • End-to-end product development: concept, design, prototype, sampling, production, and improvement.
  • Vendors and manufacturing: work directly with overseas factories and suppliers, manage sampling, revisions, and production readiness.
  • Process: create simple, repeatable development processes with clear timelines, checkpoints, and quality gates.
  • Product quality and performance: ensure durability, usability, and real-world performance through rigorous testing and issue resolution.
  • Retail and launch readiness: partner with brand, marketing, and operations to ensure products are ready for launch, including samples, specs, packaging, and pack-shot-ready assets.
  • Cross-team connective tissue: be the go-to owner for product development, communicate status, surface blockers, and close the loop.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in bringing physical products to market, preferably in consumer goods, especially soft goods (bags, luggage, apparel).
  • A proven track record of owning products end to end, working directly with overseas manufacturers, and shipping on time and to spec.
  • Strong instincts for materials, construction, and quality, with a genuine obsession with how things are made.
  • Comfortable working independently and proactively communicating progress and potential issues.
  • Experience with a PLM system, Adobe Illustrator, and Notion is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Comfortable working across time zones with overseas partners and open to occasional travel.
  • New York City preferred, but remote for the right person is also considered.
  • Nice to have: experience with soft goods, sourcing and factory production, and experience improving or scaling an existing product line.

Benefits

  • $100,000 – $120,000 salary, commensurate with experience.
  • Health insurance: medical.
  • PTO: unlimited.
