Product Development Engineer (Recent college graduate is great)

Location: Covington, GA • Duration: 12 months • Hours: 40/week • Pay: $25–30/hr • Shift: 1st

About the role

This contract (W2) position supports R&D Engineers, Scientists, and Managers in testing and development activities for new or improved medical products and processes. All work must comply with GLP and/or the client’s UCC quality system.

Responsibilities

• Perform, organize, plan, and document R&D activities leading to new or improved medical products and processes.
• Design, review, plan, conduct, and document experiments for verification of new or improved products and processes.
• Develop, organize, plan, validate, and document test methods for product development.
• Prepare protocols, test reports, test methods, and data summaries for Engineers or Scientists.
• Produce and maintain laboratory documentation that thoroughly, neatly, and accurately records all R&D activities.
• Perform tests and experiments in accordance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and/or Quality System Regulations (QSR).
• Set up, safely operate, and maintain laboratory equipment and test instruments.

Requirements

• US Citizen or Green Card holder.
• Mechanical skills with physical testing experience.
• Experience working in a regulated environment (recent college graduates welcome).
• Self-starter who works with minimal supervision.
• Strong critical-thinking skills and ability to review large data sets to make decisions.
• Resourcefulness in problem solving.
• Detail-oriented with ability to organize large volumes of work and data, including good documentation practices.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and databases.
• Effective planner and team player with strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum of Associate degree required; engineering or science major preferred.
• 2–4 years of related experience in medical device, pharmaceutical, or other regulated industry, or high school diploma/equivalent plus 3–5 years of such experience.
• Knowledge of basic laboratory activities, safety protocols, and equipment.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures or government regulations.
• Ability to write protocols, simple reports, and business correspondence.
• Basic mathematical skills; working knowledge of statistics desired.
• Good judgment and ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Ability to analyze data and suggest additional courses of action.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to sit, walk, talk, or hear.
• Close and color vision required.
• Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.

Work Environment

• Exposure to warehouse, manufacturing (noise, heat), laboratory, and office settings.
• Operate and maintain laboratory test equipment and measurement instruments.
