Product Development Engineer Intern

Job Overview

TE Connectivity is seeking an Intern for the Digital Data Networks Business Unit, which delivers high‑performance connectivity solutions for data centers, cloud computing, and edge networks. The position is located in Webster, NY (780 Salt Road, Webster, NY 14580). In this role you will support precision mechanical design and development of optical connectivity solutions, conduct product testing and analysis, and collaborate on cross‑functional project teams.

Responsibilities

• Support new product development activities by assisting with prototype builds, generating 3D and 2D engineering drawings, conducting root‑cause investigations, and collaborating with manufacturing, quality, and supplier partners.
• Perform optical, mechanical, and environmental testing on prototypes and production samples; analyze data to validate performance, identify failure modes, and support engineering decision‑making.
• Develop and execute experimental plans, document test results, and prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to the engineering team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Currently enrolled in, or pursuing, a BA/BS or MA/MS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related major from an accredited college or university (equivalent work experience may be considered; gap‑year students are welcome).
• Preferably have prior internship experience or have completed a major project.
• Authorized to work in the United States.

Compensation

Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $25.68 – $30.02 per hour (subject to change based on location, experience, and internal/external equity).
