About the Role

We’re looking for a Product Designer to define how marketers work with an AI agent team across the entire growth cycle—from planning and creative production to campaign execution, performance analysis, next-best-action recommendations, and continuous iteration.

Responsibilities

  • Map and design the full marketing loop: plan → make creative → launch → learn from performance → get recommendations → iterate fast.
  • Translate complex AI capabilities into clear, intuitive experiences with strong craft across interaction, visual, and systems design
  • Proactively bring ideas to the table and shape product direction
  • Articulate and defend design decisions clearly to stakeholders
  • Collaborate closely with engineers to ship features
  • Build and contribute to our design system
  • Work in weekly sprints with fast turnaround

You May Be a Good Fit If You Have

  • Shipped complex products where the problem was fuzzy and the direction wasn’t fully defined—and you can clearly explain how your decisions shaped the product (not just the UI).
  • A background in marketing is a big plus. If you’ve actually run campaigns (yes, clicked buttons in Ads Manager and watched the CPMs do their thing), even better.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating craft across interaction, visual, and systems design
  • Experience building or contributing to design systems
  • Ability to communicate design decisions clearly to stakeholders
  • A proactive self-starter who takes initiative and brings ideas forward
  • Startup experience is a huge plus

Application Questions

Please include the answers in your cover letter, along with your portfolio.

  • How many years of professional UX design experience do you have?
  • Have you built or contributed to a design system before?
  • Tell us about a time you drove a design project end-to-end, or an idea you proactively brought to the table.
  • Tell us about a time you designed for an AI feature or AI-assisted workflow and made it easier to understand. If you haven’t worked on AI directly, pick a complex workflow instead. What did you simplify, and what tradeoffs did you make?
  • If you end up trying playad.ai, we’d love to hear what you think: what did you try, what felt magical vs. confusing, and what would you change?
  • Are you able to work in person in San Francisco 5 days a week?
  • Will you now or in the future require visa sponsorship?

Hiring Process

  • Initial call, HR screening
  • Portfolio review
  • Technical interview
  • Structured collaboration stage
