Littler · Kansas City, MO · 1 mo ago
HybridArt & CreativeFull-time

Responsibilities

  • Drive user discovery alongside the Product Manager and engineers, conducting interviews, sketching options, and prototyping the proposed solution before engineering builds it.
  • Communicate across multiple levels including Product Managers, engineers, and end users, ensuring design intent is clear at every handoff.
  • Establish user-experience standards across all products — interaction patterns, accessibility, and mobile responsiveness — and document them in the design system, maintained in collaboration with the Sr. UI/UX Designer.
  • Contribute to the firm’s product design system in collaboration with Sr. UI/UX Designer, including typography, color, iconography, and spacing that scale across all products and extend Littler’s brand foundation into digital surfaces.
  • Audit existing products to identify user-experience gaps, partnering with Product Managers to prioritize fixes that improve how attorneys actually use the product.
  • Collaborate with marketing for product naming, applying naming conventions and reviewing new products and major features to ensure fit with the firm’s brand and product family.
  • Design AI-enabled products so that model-generated content is clear to attorneys: showing sources and citations, signaling uncertainty, and handling wrong-answer and error states, partnering with the firm’s AI department on how AI features present to users.
  • Establish user-experience metrics (time-on-task, task completion rate, user satisfaction) and partner with Product Managers to measure whether the design actually worked.
  • Champion the attorney experience in every product conversation, grounding every design decision in real attorney usage.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in product design.
  • Experience working with a product management organization to drive product discovery, including defining success metrics and KPIs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication: ability to explain a design decision with evidence and adjust when the evidence shifts.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates shipped work: B2B or enterprise products preferred, ideally in complex domains where users are experts in something other than software.
  • Proficiency with Figma or equivalent design tooling.
  • Familiarity with design systems: ability to design at the component, pattern, and product level.
  • Familiarity with software development tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence) and Agile methodologies.
  • Knowledge of the legal industry, or experience designing for attorneys, doctors, accountants, or other expert users, is a plus.
  • Front-end engineering literacy (HTML, CSS, React) is a plus: not required to ship code, but able to read it.
  • Working knowledge of AI-enabled design workflows (e.g. Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Figma AI features) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with design patterns for AI-enabled products (presenting sources, confidence, and error states) is a plus.
