Areas Of Responsibility
- Create and improve product designs using PTC Creo, converting sketches and customer layouts into detailed 3D models and drawings.
- Produce high-quality work with high attention to detail in a timely manner without the constant benefit of a reviewer, ensuring all output meets JOST standards.
- Interpret and follow ASME standards and company quality and design procedures.
- Analyze and determine proper tolerance stack-up within product designs.
- Participate in R&D projects to enhance existing product lines and support innovation.
- Utilize Pro.File (PLM) for product lifecycles, ensuring all design data, revisions, and technical documentation are accurately stored and controlled.
- Process and release engineering data within SAP (ERP) to support manufacturing and procurement.
- Provide technical assistance to the engineering team and other departments (Manufacturing, Quality, Sales) as needed.
- Perform additional duties logically inherent to the position as assigned.
- Act as the primary engineering point of contact for external vendors and internal departments (Sales, Manufacturing, Quality).
- Perform technical peer reviews of drawings and BOM created by others to ensure accuracy, adherence to ASME standards, and alignment with JOST design procedures before final submission.
Requirements
- Must possess a high attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in technical drawings, BOM, and data entry.
- Strong understanding of 3D modeling techniques and best practices for mechanical design; proficiency in PTC Creo is highly desired.
- Working knowledge of Pro.File (or similar PLM systems) and SAP (or similar ERP systems) is highly preferred.
- Associate degree in design/drafting (or equivalent) plus a minimum of two-year work history in a mechanical design field is desired.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational and analytical skills that focus on meticulous, structured design principles.
- Able to quickly gain knowledge of company products, design standards, safety protocols, and JOST International Basic Processes.
- A minimum of 5 years of work history in a mechanical design field.
- Able to lead design assignments of significant scope and complexity with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge and understanding of APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) techniques, including participation in DFMEA.
- Proficiency in applying GD&T principles and performing complex tolerance stack-up analysis to ensure functional assembly and safety.
- Proven ability to manage the full product lifecycle within Pro.File (PLM) and execute production data entry within SAP (ERP) with high accuracy and attention to detail.
