Product Designer
About the role
The American National is seeking a UX/UI Specialist II with a strong focus on UI design to help shape intuitive, accessible, and visually engaging digital experiences across our growing digital platforms.
Responsibilities
- Design clean, responsive, and user-friendly digital experiences for web and mobile platforms, including customer-facing and internal enterprise platforms
- Create user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity designs, interactive prototypes, and production-ready specifications using Figma
- Partner closely with Product Managers, Product Owners, UX researchers, developers, and business stakeholders to translate requirements and research insights into effective design solutions
- Contribute to and maintain design system standards, reusable components, and consistent visual patterns across digital products
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, refinements, reviews, and cross-functional design discussions
- Present design recommendations clearly and confidently, using research, analytics, usability feedback, and business context to support decisions
- Identify opportunities to improve design efficiency, including AI-assisted workflows and emerging design tools
Requirements
Two + years of UX/UI, product design, visual design, or related digital design experience
Intermediate to advanced Figma skills, including auto layout, components, variables, prototyping, and design system management
Strong understanding of responsive design, interaction design, information hierarchy, and accessibility best practices
Experience designing for digital products, enterprise applications, dashboards, client portals, or similar user-facing platforms
Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with product, engineering, and business teams
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain design decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
A portfolio that clearly demonstrates your design process, level of ownership, and examples of shipped or production-ready work
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in Agile, Scrum, or SAFe environments
- Background in insurance, financial services, healthcare, fintech, or another highly regulated industry
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite or design-adjacent tools
- Familiarity with React, CSS, Tailwind, developer handoff, or design-to-development collaboration
- Interest in AI-enabled design workflows and tools that improve speed, consistency, and collaboration
