Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design process for key product initiatives—from discovery, user research, and wireframing to high-fidelity mockups, prototyping, and detailed hand-off to engineers.
- Create, document, and maintain a comprehensive design system (from foundational elements to complex components) that ensures consistency, speeds up development, and scales with our product and team.
- Conduct user research and usability testing to gather insights, validate concepts, and ensure our product effectively solves the real-world problems of our users in the social impact space.
- Collaborate closely with the Product team, CTO, CEO, and Engineering leads to define the product roadmap, contribute to product strategy, and advocate for the user experience.
- Establish design best practices, tools, and workflows within the product team. Set the standard for quality and efficiency in product development.
- Take ownership of our public-facing Beam Impact website, built on Framer. Maintain, update, and design new pages to support marketing campaigns, product launches, and brand initiatives.
- Provide guidance and creative direction to a junior integrations designer, helping them grow their skills and ensuring the quality and consistency of their work on embedded components and integration touchpoints.
- Maintain and evolve the Beam Impact brand identity, ensuring visual and experiential consistency across all product and marketing touchpoints.
- Create compelling marketing assets to drive growth, including sales decks, emails templates, case studies, social media content, and marketing assets.
Qualifications & Must-Haves
- 5+ years of experience in product design with a focus on UI/UX for web and mobile applications
- Proven track record designing for SaaS products, ideally in fast-paced or high-growth environments
- Portfolio showcasing elegant, data-driven solutions to complex design challenges
- Proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD) and expertise across responsive web and mobile
- Deep understanding of technical constraints and opportunities, enabling close collaboration with engineers
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining design systems and pattern libraries
- Strong analytical mindset and experience using sales, product, or client data to inform design decisions
- Expert knowledge of UI/UX best practices, accessibility standards, and user-centered design principles
- Proven experience in creating and maintaining a design system from the ground up. Deep understanding of component-based design, tokens, and documentation
- Proven ability to manage and mentor junior design talent, providing constructive feedback and elevating the team's overall output
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions clearly and persuasively to technical and non-technical audiences
Bonus Points (Nice-to-Haves)
- Previous experience in the e-commerce or Martech sectors
- Experience working in a Series A/B/C startup environment
- Experience working within multi-product eco-systems
- Familiarity with ecommerce and AB testing within AB testing
- Familiarity with the Shopify ecosystem
- Familiarity with accessibility design
- Experience building decks for executive stakeholders
- Hands-on experience maintaining a marketing website, preferably built on Framer (or a similar tool like Webflow)
