About the role
The Secure Embedded Systems department (5327) at Boston Government Services, LLC. (BGS) is seeking a motivated Product Design Engineer to support state-of-the-art printed circuit board (PCB) layout for large multi-disciplinary programs critical to national security.
Responsibilities
- Support a team in the design, development, test, and deployment of novel embedded computing solutions.
- Work alongside world-class experts and use skills in layout of custom, state-of-the-art PCBs.
- PCB test and debug.
- Team with PCB designers, firmware, and software engineers to create embedded computing solutions.
Requirements
- High School Diploma.
- Experience and understanding with printed circuit board layout.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Successful drug screening.
- Eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience (desirable).
- Certified Interconnect Designer (CID) Certification (desirable).
- Certified Interconnect Designer Advanced (CID+) Certification (desirable).
- Certified Printed Circuit Designer (CPCD) certification (desirable).
- Experience with Siemens layout tools (PADS and/or Expedition) (desirable).
- Experience with high-layer-count stack-ups (18+ copper layers) (desirable).
- Experience with PCB layout, testing, and debugging for applications involving state-of-the-art FPGAs, high-speed, and large memory (desirable).
- Experience routing signals with high-speed data-rates (5+ gb/s) (desirable).
- Experience routing modern memory topologies (DDR4/5) (desirable).
- Experience with fine design features (3 mil trace & space) (desirable).
- Active DOE Q clearance (required).
- Ability to work independently and collaborate well in a multidisciplinary team of designers and test engineers (required).

Schedule
Full-time, Monday – Friday 40-hour week.
Location
Sandia National Laboratory in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
