Responsibilities
- Counsel Stripe product and engineering teams on issues related to Stripe's software solutions, including Stripe Revenue Suite, Stripe Profiles, and Stripe Atlas.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (engineering, partnerships, privacy, and security) to provide pragmatic and actionable legal advice throughout the product development lifecycle, from initial scoping to launch.
- Draft, review, and update internal and external-facing foundational terms and documents for Stripe’s products and service offerings.
- Stay up-to-date on laws and regulations related to consumer financial data access, analyzing regulatory updates and industry trends to proactively advise on potential product impacts.
- Act as a proactive business partner, offering key legal and strategic input to evolve Stripe’s product roadmap and strategy.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a qualified lawyer in a top law firm or in-house legal team, working with technology companies (ideally cloud-based API service providers) on legal and regulatory aspects of product development.
- Proficiency and passion for working with technology, with the ability to quickly understand complex operational and business models and multiple product use cases.
- Self-starter with strong self-learning abilities, thriving in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities efficiently.
- Ownership mentality, comfortable with ambiguity, and excellent judgment in decision-making with limited information.
- Strong communication and relational skills, able to work cross-functionally with urgency while remaining collaborative and approachable.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills to handle shifting priorities and tight deadlines.
- Background in technology law and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strategic thinking to enable business partners to make decisions grounded in practical application of law, technology, and business goals.
