Product Counsel

About the role

For our client, we are seeking a Product Counsel to join the team of a leader in the Information Technology space. This role will provide legal guidance across the product lifecycle, helping shape product decisions, privacy practices, and compliance standards in a fast-moving technology environment. You will partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, and Strategy to address commercial, regulatory, and operational issues that arise as new offerings are developed and launched. The position also includes advising on AI governance, security-related events, and the legal considerations tied to global software development and distribution. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available.

Pay

$191,000 – $293,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel on product-related issues domestically and internationally
• Collaborate with Product Management, Engineering, and Strategy teams throughout the product lifecycle
• Advise on AI matters including policies, liability, and responsible development
• Enhance compliance processes with global laws, privacy, and security regulations
• Negotiate license agreements
• Participate in open-source review processes
• Advise on privacy practices throughout software development
• Review product collateral and marketing materials
• Act as a subject matter expert for Contracts and Legal teams
• Support the incident response program and address security events
• Contribute to IP strategy and manage patent and trademark portfolios

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited institution
• Active and in good standing with at least one state bar
• Minimum 5 years legal experience, preferably in software or technology
• Familiarity with AI legal considerations and governance frameworks
• Working knowledge of global privacy laws and their impact on product development
• Exceptional communication skills
• Ability to work independently or collaboratively within a legal team
