Job Title: Product Compliance Engineer The Product Compliance Engineer serves as the technical expert for certification and regulatory compliance activities, ensuring that products meet applicable domestic and international standards throughout the entire product lifecycle. This role partners closely with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Product Development teams to support new product introductions, sustaining engineering efforts, certification activities, and ongoing compliance requirements across a broad industrial product portfolio. Responsibilities Lead product certification and regulatory compliance efforts for new and existing products across the full product lifecycle.Evaluate products against applicable safety, regulatory, and performance standards to ensure conformity prior to release and throughout production.Coordinate certification and testing activities with third-party testing and approval organizations, including nationally recognized testing laboratories.Support new product development teams by identifying, interpreting, and addressing compliance requirements early in the design process.Review engineering changes, component modifications, and design updates to confirm continued compliance with relevant standards and certifications.Partner with Quality and Manufacturing teams to investigate compliance-related issues, field concerns, and non-conformances, and support corrective actions.Support and prepare for certification audits, surveillance audits, and regulatory investigations, ensuring required documentation and evidence are available.Interpret emerging regulations, standards, and certification requirements and communicate their impact to internal stakeholders.Maintain accurate and complete technical files, certification records, compliance documentation, and audit materials in accordance with regulatory expectations.Participate in cross-functional review meetings involving product changes, compliance concerns, and certification requirements to provide expert guidance.Provide guidance and training to internal stakeholders on regulatory, safety, and certification requirements, helping teams integrate compliance into designs and processes.Act as a key compliance resource for engineering and product development teams, supporting broader ownership of compliance across an industrial product portfolio. Essential Skills 3–7+ years of experience supporting product certification, product safety, regulatory compliance, testing, or standards-related activities.Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline preferred, with significant relevant product certification, compliance, testing, or regulatory experience considered in lieu of a degree.Demonstrated understanding of how products are evaluated against industry and safety standards.Experience working with engineering teams, manufacturing organizations, quality groups, and external certification bodies.Experience working with third-party certification and testing organizations such as UL, CSA, Intertek, TÜV, or other nationally recognized testing laboratories.Experience supporting certification audits, surveillance audits, and regulatory investigations.Ability to interpret technical standards and apply requirements to product designs and manufacturing processes.Strong technical communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain complex standards and requirements to technical and non-technical audiences.Strong documentation skills for maintaining technical files, certification records, and compliance documentation.Knowledge of electrical safety standards, product safety requirements, EMC requirements, machinery and equipment directives, and pressure equipment requirements.Knowledge of industrial machinery, electromechanical systems, controls, motors, or related equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience supporting products sold globally across multiple regulatory jurisdictions.Interest in taking broader ownership of compliance across an entire industrial product portfolio.Ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional environments with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Product Development.A proactive mindset for identifying compliance risks early in the design and development process.Comfort serving as an internal subject-matter expert on certification and regulatory requirements. Work Environment This role operates in a professional industrial and engineering environment, working closely with cross-functional teams in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Product Development. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The position involves regular interaction with external testing and certification organizations and participation in audits and review meetings. The environment emphasizes structured documentation, adherence to industry and safety standards, and collaboration across multiple disciplines to support a diverse industrial product portfolio. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Michigan City, IN. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $52.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
