About the role

The Product Compliance Engineer supports regulatory compliance for all Traeger products. They work closely with project teams to develop, implement, and maintain compliance requirements, certifications, and guidelines. This role also educates team members and develops data systems to ensure Traeger products remain compliant within the markets they serve.

Responsibilities

  • Support project teams and assure new/modified products meet both material regulations and product certification requirements
  • Research, understand, and apply regulatory and industry objectives for product sustainability programs (e.g., environmental compliance, PFAS, RoHS, REACH, Prop 65, TSCA, other materials compliance, Declarations of Conformity, sustainable product initiatives, etc)
  • Develop a self-sustaining system to provide material/product declarations of conformity and compliance certificates on demand
  • Support project meetings, Design Reviews, FMEA’s, and Hazard Reviews to define material and/or testing protocols for product certifications

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering or equivalent, with 5+ years of experience in lieu of a degree
  • 5+ years of experience in product compliance, PFAS, RoHS, REACH, Prop 65, AB1200, TSCA, materials compliance, food contact, Product Declarations of Conformity and sustainable product initiatives
  • Experience with product life management systems
  • Ability to write DOC’s
  • Experience working with retailer auditors
  • Experience conducting material and product regulatory and compliance risk assessments and developing risk mitigation strategies/plans
  • Experience working with various international organizations such as: UL, CSA, and IEC
  • Experience with compliance legislation and regulations in USA, CAN, EU, NZ/AUS and UAE
  • Experience with PFAS
  • Experience with food contact regulations
  • Ability to work with part numbers and build BOMs for database tracking
  • Able to complete responsibilities in a timely, professional, and quality manner
  • Solve problems analytically; search out relevant information and gauge its importance when making decisions
  • Effective written and oral communication skills; able to express oneself clearly and in technical and non-technical terms
  • Collaborative and effective team player and able to work with teams who are globally dispersed
  • Product development experience is preferred
  • Requirement systems development and management experience is preferred
