About the role

Flambeau, Inc. is looking for a Product & Applications Development Engineer to join our growing Fluid Systems team and help shape the future of our fuel systems, reservoirs, caps, fittings, and other fluid-handling products. You’ll be a technical leader and subject-matter expert, driving development and continuous improvement across our Fluid Systems portfolio.

You’ll collaborate with customers, manufacturing teams, suppliers, and cross-functional partners to bring high-performance, compliant products to life in a supportive, innovation-focused environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development, qualification, and launch of new proprietary and customer Fluid Systems products.
  • Ensure designs meet customer needs, quality standards, and regulatory requirements (EPA, CARB, ANSI/OPEI, SAE, FMVSS).
  • Manage validation testing, certifications, regulatory documentation, and EPA CDX submissions.
  • Provide hands-on applications engineering support for fuel systems, reservoirs, caps, fittings, venting solutions, materials, and additives.
  • Partner with Manufacturing and Quality to improve cost, performance, reliability, and process capability.
  • Support customer technical inquiries, root-cause investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with Sales on new business opportunities, technical presentations, and customer visits.
  • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers, labs, and industry partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 5+ years of relevant experience preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Experience with plastics fluid systems, injection molding, blow molding, and secondary operations preferred.
  • Industry knowledge related to outdoor power equipment fuel tanks is a plus.
  • Strong 3D CAD/SolidWorks skills.
  • Proficient with Windows, Excel, Word, Internet tools, FTP, and ISO procedures.

Work Environment

This role offers a mix of office-based engineering work and hands-on testing activities. Typical weekly schedule is 40 hours, with additional time as needed. Occasional lifting up to 40 pounds may be required.
