About the role
KTLA, the #1 station in the nation’s #2 market, seeks a Digital Content Producer to join its dynamic digital team.
Responsibilities
- Write, report and post news stories on KTLA.com and across multiple social media platforms, including Facebook, X and Instagram.
- Curate and research stories independently, demonstrating excellent newswriting skills and news judgment.
- Produce stories and social posts that employ AP Style, are free of errors and are easily readable for the audience.
- Manage video livestreams and edit and post video clips to KTLA.com and KTLA’s social media channels using nonlinear video editing and web publishing systems.
- Collaborate with the assignment desk, show producers and on-air reporters, adapting to different personalities and communication styles.
- Adapt to changing technologies and expectations, integrating digital content with broadcast coverage.
- Respond to breaking news with speed, juggling multiple stories throughout the day and producing clean copy without the support of a copy editor.
- Continually update and rewrite stories with the newest information and promptly post updates on the station's social media accounts.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a local newsroom, especially on a digital platform or in local television news, is strongly preferred.
- Bachelor's degree and three years of experience in news required.
- Excellent command of the English language, both verbal and written.
- Flexibility about scheduling: Work at various times of the day, including early mornings, nights, weekends and some holidays, as well as last-minute requests to fill in for other producers' sick calls.

- Comprehensive knowledge of reporting, sourcing, transparency and journalism ethics, with a commitment to integrity and accuracy.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to juggle stories and duties while working closely with the rest of the digital team.
- The ability to multitask comfortably and professionally under intense deadline pressure.
- The ability to prioritize among competing stories those that are most important to our audience.
- The ability to follow directions, perform duties, work well with others and make independent decisions.
- The ability to integrate digital content with broadcast coverage.
- The ability to adapt, experiment and follow new developments in social media.
Skills
- Excellent newswriting skills and news judgment.
- Experience with nonlinear video editing and web publishing systems.
- Knowledge of Photoshop or similar photo editing tools (preferred).
- Familiarity and comfort with X, Facebook and Instagram.
- Willingness to adapt, experiment and follow new developments in social media.
