About the role

WDSU, the NBC affiliate in New Orleans, LA, is seeking a News Producer who knows how to create meaningful and memorable newscasts. You will report to the News Director and collaborate with a team of anchors, reporters, meteorologists, photographers, editors, and production staff to deliver high-quality news content.

Responsibilities

• Select, research, and write content for live newscasts to make the newscast an "experience" for viewers.
• Work with and guide reporters in story production.
• Coordinate creative vision with the news team, including anchors, reporters, meteorologists, photographers, editors, and production staff.
• Booth assigned newscasts, breaking news, and weather events.
• Live time newscasts and manage multiple crews and responsibilities simultaneously.
• Summarize information into easy-to-understand components.
• Showcase all resources and elements with a creative presentation style.
• Maintain the highest journalistic integrity and ethical standards.

Requirements

• Professional or college producing experience.
• Experience working in a newsroom.
• Strong writing and copy-editing skills.
• Ability to coordinate several crews and responsibilities simultaneously.
• Creative presentation style and ability to utilize all available resources.
• Must be available to work holidays, shifts including nights, weekends, and overnights, and be flexible to cover breaking news.
• Related military experience will be considered.
