PRODUCE CLERK

About the Role

Produce Clerks create an exceptional customer service experience by ensuring produce areas are properly stocked and providing assistance to customers to locate items.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with a primary emphasis on fast, friendly, and accurate service.
• Cull displays to ensure only fresh and quality product is available.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and all regulations.
• Rotate sections 100% and ensure fresh products are readily available.
• Handle receiving, preparation, conditioning, and displaying of merchandise in accordance with company standards.
• Minimize shrinkage through proper handling of products.
• Process and package produce.
• Provide assistance to co-workers.
• Transfer stock from coolers and freezers to department shelves.
• Unload delivery trucks.
• Ensure all product date coding is accurate and within parameters.
• Properly clean equipment and tools utilized.
• Stack, rotate, and date code coolers.
• Comply with safety and health standards to ensure safe handling of food.
• Identify, correct, and report unsafe conditions that could cause accidents.
• Perform additional duties as required.

Requirements

• Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with others.
• Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
• Strong communication skills with both customers and coworkers.
• Ability to operate general office equipment.
• Knowledge of and experience complying with equipment, safety principles, practices, procedures, and strategies to promote effective operations for the protection of people and property.
• Knowledge of and ability to operate equipment necessary to perform the duties of the position.
• Ability to work flexible schedules through the day, evening, and weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Lifting and carrying objects up to 50 pounds.
• Frequent walking and standing.
• Frequently kneels, stoops, reaches, pushes, pulls, and carries medium to heavy items.
• Work is performed indoors and outdoors, subject to weather and climate conditions.
