About the role

Sets up and maintains the condition of the department according to company standards. Consistently provides friendly, courteous customer service to internal and external customers. Ensures product quality and selection. Performs other related work. Generally works 6-8 hour shifts between 4:00 am and 11:00 pm.

Responsibilities

• Seeks opportunities to welcome, engage, serve, and thank customers.
• Maintains an atmosphere of friendly, enthusiastic customer service with an emphasis on taking care of the customer.
• Provides fast, friendly customer service, addressing and resolving customer concerns, including immediate replacement of bad product, expediting returns or refunds, and helping locate items throughout the store.
• Performs receiving duties: verifying orders against invoices, reporting shortages and claims, breaking down loads, dating product, cutting cases, stacking, pricing, and marking merchandise, and maintaining produce storage area.
• Ensures proper merchandising for freshness and quality by handling product to minimize damage and spoilage, building produce displays, rotating stock, discarding outdated or spoiled product, ensuring proper pricing and signing, and using related equipment such as box cutters, compactors, hand trucks, pallet jacks, and forklifts.
• Maintains cleanliness and eye-appeal of work area, storage area, and selling floor.
• Ensures a safe and secure work environment.
• Performs duties with honesty and integrity.
• Performs other duties as assigned or needed.

Requirements

• Perform basic math (add, subtract, divide, and multiply) and compute weights and measures.
• Ability to work varied shifts in a 24/7 operation, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Conduct visual inspection of product and displays, and read written material.
• Communicate in writing to others.
• Reach, lift, and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weights up to 50 lbs. frequently.
• Push and pull fully loaded hand trucks and pallet jacks.
• Stand for long periods, walk and move rapidly, bend, twist, and turn frequently.
• Perform safe and quick movements, and operate related equipment with manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
• Work with hands exposed to ice, moisture, fruits, and vegetables.
• Learn proper handling, preparation, seasonality, perishability, product safety, sanitation procedures, and department policies.
• Wear hats, hairnets, gloves, and other personal protective equipment as required.
• Must be 16 years of age or older.
• Perform primary duties efficiently and accurately.
• Food Handlers Certification (per state laws).

Skills

• Operate tools and equipment such as knives, wrappers, scales, compactors, garbage disposals, hand trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, and ladders.

For minors hired, hours may differ, as well as machines and equipment operated.

Pay

USD $14.50 - USD $18.75 /Hr.
