Procurement Supply Chain Category Manager
About the role
The Manager, Category is responsible for owning and overseeing the development of category strategies and related implementation processes and procedures to maximize business opportunities. This includes stakeholder management, negotiation development and execution, in-depth market knowledge research, supplier relationships/management, and driving continuous improvement of the given category.
Responsibilities
- Owns category, including stakeholder management, negotiation development and execution, in depth market knowledge research, supplier relationships/management, and drive continuous improvement of the given category.
- Utilizes category expertise to jointly develop category strategies in partnership with business stakeholders - ensuring alignment with all levels of business partners, including Corporate, Area, and Business Units.
- Led process standardization and process improvement initiatives to ensure business requirements are achieved.
- Develops and implements effective supplier performance management initiatives to ensure continuous improvement.
- Develops and achieves YOY goals and objectives to the assigned project(s) and categories.
- Coaches, mentors, and supports the professional development of department team members.
Requirements
Minimum of 5 years of supply chain, procurement experience or related experience. Direct experience negotiating contracts involving multiple spend categories. Professional supply chain certification (e.g. CPM, CPSM, Six Sigma) and experience with Continuous Improvement methodologies, Six Sigma, or Lean. 2 years or more of experience leading or providing direction to others. Proficiency with eProcurement systems and MS Office, including advanced MS Excel skills such as VBA programming, macros, and advanced formulas. Strong analytical skills with a focus on details, cost drivers, and total cost of ownership and the ability to develop sourcing strategies and influence executive management. Ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally, with customers and stakeholders to build strong internal and external relationships while maintaining a high sense of urgency and customer focus. Ability to effectively manage multiple projects or tasks with varying and competing timelines.
Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include:
- Direct experience negotiating contracts involving multiple spend categories.
- Professional supply chain certification (e.g. CPM, CPSM, Six Sigma).
