Procurement Supervisor- Manufacturing

About the role

We're looking for a hands-on Procurement Supervisor who enjoys leading from the front. This position combines day-to-day purchasing responsibilities with leadership of a small procurement team, making it ideal for someone who still enjoys negotiating with suppliers, solving supply chain challenges, and working closely with manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

• Purchase raw materials, fabricated components, and specialty parts used in industrial manufacturing
• Source and build strong relationships with fabricators, machine shops, and strategic suppliers
• Negotiate pricing, lead times, and commercial agreements to support production goals
• Manage purchase orders and monitor supplier performance to ensure quality and on-time delivery
• Provide day-to-day leadership and support for the purchasing team while remaining actively involved in procurement activities
• Aid with workload coordination, supplier issue resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Foster strong communication across Purchasing, Engineering, Production, and Quality departments
• Collaborate with internal teams and suppliers to ensure manufactured components meet design requirements
• Support sourcing strategies that improve efficiency, reduce costs, and strengthen supplier partnerships

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
• 5+ years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
• Previous supervisory or team lead experience preferred
• Ability to read engineering drawings, blueprints, and bills of material (BOMs)
• Strong supplier negotiation, communication, and organizational skills
• Solid understanding of machining, welding, forming, and metal fabrication processes
• Experience within a heavy fabrication manufacturing environment and/or the heat exchanger industry is strongly preferred
