This opportunity is for a Procurement Supervisor position within the Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services (MDCPS) Finance Department, located in Jackson, MS. MDCPS is committed to protecting and nurturing Mississippi's at-risk children and families.

This position will find the most cost-effective way to meet the agency's needs while adhering to procurement rules, regulations, and laws. The role involves building and maintaining vendor relationships, demonstrating ethical behavior, organization, and attention to detail. Responsibilities
- Supervise the full procurement cycle, ensuring adherence to agency, state, and federal guidelines from requisition to receipt of goods or services.
- Engage in contract negotiations with suppliers to secure favorable conditions, including cost, delivery timelines, and quality of goods or services.
- Develop and implement procurement strategies for cost reduction and efficiency improvement, such as supplier consolidation and bulk purchasing.
- Oversee the supplier selection process, performing comprehensive evaluations to ensure dependability, quality, and financial stability.
- Collaborate with internal departments to anticipate demand for goods and services, ensuring timely procurement that meets operational requirements.
- Establish and maintain a procurement management system or software to streamline processes and improve data transparency and reporting.
- Address disputes with suppliers or agency employees regarding contract delivery, product quality, or contract adherence to minimize organizational disruption.
- Conduct regular audits of procurement policies and procedures, proposing updates to align with industry best practices and regulatory mandates.
- Authorize requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment in MAGIC.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
- 4–6 years of relevant experience.
- Ability to lead, mentor, and provide clear direction to personnel.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to ethical practices and transparency in procurement processes.
