About the Role

Purchase sophisticated, high-dollar and complex products requiring close administration to resolve technical problems and overcome long lead time or short supply.

Responsibilities

  • Observe, receive, and obtain information from all relevant sources, including locating sources of supply for purchasing and obtaining information from individuals.
  • Use computers and computer systems to enter, access, or retrieve data.
  • Develop and maintain constructive, cooperative working relationships with others.
  • Communicate with supervisors, peers, subordinates, and persons outside the organization (e.g., customers, public, government, external sources) via telephone, written form, email, or in person.
    • Communicate technical information.
    • Write business correspondence.
  • Perform the duties of a Senior Buyer, including:
    • Participate in vendor surveys and vendor performance analysis.
    • Perform cost analysis on vendor cost breakdowns to justify pricing.
    • Determine and recommend cost reduction methods through negotiations with suppliers and/or substitution of material.
    • Work closely with Contracts and Pricing during customer negotiations regarding material price justifications.
    • Support lower classified personnel in the procurement of a wide range of commodities.
    • Assign commodities for lower classified personnel.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or other related field.
  • A minimum of twelve years’ experience in Purchasing.
  • Knowledgeable and capable of negotiations and elements of supplier proposals.

Pay

In compliance with state and local laws, the salary range for this role is $93,170 - $128,000. The range provided is a general guideline and good faith estimate representative of all experience levels but is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. TCOM considers several factors when extending an offer, including the scope and responsibilities of the position, a candidate’s experience, education/training, key skills, and internal equity.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
