Job Description Role Overview The Procurement & Subcontract Specialist at Fluence is a mid-career professional responsible for driving sourcing and subcontracting activities across the sales and pre-execution phases of energy storage projects. With a strong foundation in procurement, this role owns end-to-end sourcing packages, contributing to competitive proposal development, cost accuracy, and supplier strategy. Working closely with cross-functional teams, the specialist supports pricing development, supplier selection, and procurement assumptions, while ensuring alignment with regional and project requirements. This role also plays a key part in developing supplier relationships and driving efficient, scalable procurement practices. Key Responsibilities Own and deliver end-to-end sourcing packages in support of project proposals, ensuring timely and high-quality executionLead sourcing activities for EPC, BOP, and key equipment packages, including RFQ preparation, bid analysis, and supplier selectionInfluence proposal competitiveness by driving cost accuracy, supplier strategy, and procurement assumptionsManage RFQ processes end-to-end, including scope definition, commercial evaluation, and supplier recommendationsSupport subcontract negotiations, with progression toward independently leading commercial and contractual discussionsCollaborate closely with Sales to support pricing development and proposal submissionsPartner with Engineering to ensure supplier proposals align with technical and project requirementsContribute to pricing inputs (SOG) and procurement strategies for proposals and pipeline opportunitiesSupport supplier development, qualification, and relationship management aligned with regional procurement objectivesMaintain procurement data, dashboards, and reporting accuracy using SAP and other toolsEnsure compliance with Fluence procurement policies, procedures, and governance standardsSupport demand planning activities through the issuance of purchase orders and letters of intent, as required Required Qualifications & Experience 4–6 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or subcontract management within industrial, energy, or engineering environmentsProven experience managing RFQs, supplier selection, and sourcing activities end-to-endBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain, or a related fieldStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured, detail-oriented approachExcellent communication skills with the ability to engage and influence internal stakeholders and external suppliers Preferred Qualifications & Experience Experience in energy storage, renewable energy, construction, or BESS projectsExposure to EPC or BOP subcontracting environmentsExperience with SAP S/4HANA or similar ERP systemsExperience supporting pricing, cost estimation, or proposal development activities Additional Skills Ownership & Accountability: Takes responsibility for delivering sourcing and subcontracting activities independently and to a high standardCollaboration & Influence: Builds strong, effective relationships across cross-functional teams and with external partnersProblem Solving: Proactively identifies and resolves procurement and supplier challenges with practical, outcome-driven solutionsResilience: Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic project environment and maintains composure under pressureNegotiation: Supports and develops capability to lead commercial discussions and contract negotiationsRelationship Management: Establishes and maintains productive, long-term supplier and stakeholder partnershipsInitiative: Proactively drives sourcing activities and identifies opportunities for improvementData-Driven: Leverages data and insights to support decision-making and optimize outcomesTime Management: Effectively prioritizes and manages multiple deadlines in a project-driven environment Our Culture At Fluence, our culture is the foundation that drives our ambitious growth strategy and fuels our mission to transform the future of energy.
