Procurement Specialist II (Supply Chain Buyer)

About the Role

Negotiates favorable terms, volume discounts, and long-term contracts with suppliers. Prepares and processes requisitions and purchase orders for the procurement of goods, services, and supplies for customer-related business processes or internal use. This role requires working knowledge and experience in procurement disciplines, broadening capabilities, and building knowledge of company processes and customers. Performs a range of assignments with moderate guidance, exercising discretion and judgment.

Responsibilities

• Develops and executes sourcing strategies, evaluates product offerings, recommends suppliers, and negotiates contracts for assigned categories or departments.
• Gathers business requirements and identifies and pre-qualifies potential suppliers.
• Develops and distributes RFPs/RFQs, collects bids, and evaluates proposals based on quality, cost, or other criteria.
• Recommends suppliers best suited to meet organizational requirements and works with them to develop mutually acceptable contractual agreements.
• May oversee tactical purchasing operations, such as issuance of purchase orders or payment of invoices.
• Ensures all procurement activities comply with internal policies and external regulations.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree and 2-4 years of relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Ability to work as part of a team, make decisions, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Analytical thinking, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
• Experience with IFS software.
• Experience in a DoD manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of FAR / DFARS / CPSR requirements.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods.
• Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
• Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
• May require working inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operating machinery.

No or very little travel is likely.
