Procurement Specialist II
About the role
The Department of Public Safety's mission is to safeguard and preserve the lives and property of the people of North Carolina through preparation, prevention, and protection with integrity and honor. This position is open only to current North Carolina State Government and UNC System employees and eligible RIF candidates. The Procurement Specialist II performs purchasing responsibilities for a major group of services and commodities within a large State Agency.
Responsibilities
- Review authorized requisitions
- Make determination of appropriate acquisition procedure based on nature of requisition item(s) and dollar amounts as authorized by State Law
- Prepare purchase orders
- Cook up and maintain records and prepare reports
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with departmental personnel and manufacturer's representatives
- Apply and interpret established rules and regulations
Requirements
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits, including paid vacation, paid sick leave, paid holidays, retirement, and health insurance. The work schedule is Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm. This position qualifies for teleworking on a part-time basis as part of the State Telework Program.
Qualifications
The minimum education and experience required is a bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of procurement experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills and Abilities
Working knowledge and understanding of large-scale purchasing methods and procedures. General knowledge of various services being procured.

Pay
$47,703.00 - $65,000.00
